Great Grammie’s Dinner Rolls

These buttery dinner rolls are a great addition to any holiday meal.

Ingredience:

2 cups of scalded milk

4 tbs sugar

4 tbs butter

1 pkg yeast & ½ cup of lukewarm water

1 egg beaten and mixed with cooled milk

4 ½ cups of flour (mixed into liquid, but not too stiff to handle) add the flour a bit at a time.


Instructions:

Set the yeast in ½ cup of lukewarm water.  Transfer the scalded milk to a large bowl and add the sugar and butter.  Beat 1 egg and add to the milk mix once cooled.  Add the yeast and water into the milk mixture. Add the flour, stirring it in gradually.  Turn dough onto a floured surface. Sprinkle flour on top and nead it. Transfer the dough into a greased glass bowl and cover with a tea towel.  Let it rise until it is doubled in size. Turn out onto floured surface. Cut a baseball size piece off and nead for one minute. Roll the piece out to ½ thick. Take a cookie cutter and cut.Take a knife and butter the center of each roll. Fold in half and pinch the ends.  Place it in a pan and cover with a tea towel. Let it rise for 30 minutes. Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Lightly butter the tops of the rolls and let cool.  Place it in a plastic bag to keep fresh.
