Ingredients:
1 small, sweet onion
½ cup of roasted red peppers chopped
1 (15 oz) can of tomato sauce
2 tsp of brown sugar
1 tbsp of lite soy sauce
1 tbsp of yellow mustard
1 tbsp of tomato paste
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp each of black pepper and salt
1 ½ lb. of ground beef
6 hamburger buns
6 slices of cheddar cheese
Direction:
Finely chop onion and red pepper. Combine the onion, pepper, tomato sauce, brown sugar, soy sauce, mustard, tomato paste, and oil. Then season with salt and pepper to taste. Set a large skillet over medium heat with some oil. Cook the above for 5 minutes. Add the ground beef breaking up the beef into small morsels. Cook until no pink remains (about 5 to 10 minutes).
Reduce the heat to low and simmer and cook uncovered until thicken (about 20 minutes).
When mixture is ready, top each bun with a heaping spoonful of the meat mixture. Then add a slice of cheddar to each bun so that it starts to melt a bit.
Enjoy!
