Slow Cooker Root Beer Ribs
Ingredients:
1 sweet onion chopped
2 tsp of paprika
1 tsp of celery salt
4 lbs. of baby back ribs cut into 4 rib sections
1 cup of root beer
½ cup of ketchup
¼ cup of brown sugar
¼ cup of apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp of hot sauce
Directions:
Simmer the ribs for one hour to remove excess fat.
Cook the onions in a skillet until translucent. Mix in the paprika and celery salt. Remove from the skillet and cool slightly. Rub both sides of the ribs with the onion mixture.
In a bowl, mix the root beer, ketchup, sugar, vinegar, and hot sauce.
Place the ribs in a slow cooker on low. And cover with the root beer mixture, reserving ½ cup and place in the fridge. Cook until tender (about 7 hours).
Remove the ribs to a parchment lined baking sheet, removing excess fat. Transfer the remaining liquid and reserved ½ cup to a small pot. Cook until the liquid is slightly reduced (5 to 7 minutes).
Brush half of the liquid over the ribs. Prepare the grill on med-high heat. Cook until heated through for about 5 minutes or until edges are browned.
Serve with the remaining sauce. Enjoy your ribs with your favorite rice.
